This makes it difficult for you to know if you are truly hiring a legitimate Belly Dance Artist. The dancers who appear on this site have been scouted and screened for talent, technique, experience dedication and legitimacy.. Because we do not collect money from the artists who appear on our site, you can feel confident about hiring a true professional for your next special event.
On a personal note...
Belly Dance...Not Impressed
The first time I saw a Belly Dancer was in a small Greek restaurant in Kelowna, British Columbia. I was 16 years old and a dance student, so I was interested in seeing a dance form that was unfamiliar to me. Well, it was different. The music was mmm...boring. That doesn't sound very culturally savvy, but do you want me to lie? Anyway, I'd never seen Belly Dancing before, so I had no point of reference. Good, bad, I had no idea. Her costume was...I don't know. I don't remember. My first impression of Belly Dance was...Not impressed.
Fast forward five years, by a weird twist of fate, I saw another Belly Dancer perform. She was mesmerizing. Every element of her show moved me. The music went straight to my soul. The costume was, by itself, a work of art. The dancer moved like liquid gold. I had never seen anything like that before. Her performance was playful, flirty, serious, sexy, feminine, artful, cultural, glamorous, sophisticated, and down to earth...get the idea? All in one 20-minute set. WOW! I was an instant fan.
Why am I telling you this story? Because it explains my motive for creating BellyDance.World. The first performance I saw was not a professional one. If I had never gotten to see that second dancer, I would never have fallen in love with this beautiful dance form. My agenda is to do what I can to help you find those incredible artists creating exceptional experiences. If you are unfamiliar with the world of Belly Dance, BellyDance.World is here for you. I am here for you. I have been dancing professionally for more years than I care to mention. It's safe to say, I know a pro when I see one, and I am scouting them for you so that your first impression of Belly Dance is like my second impression was...WOW! Belly Dance is such an extraordinary form of entertainment. Let me introduce you to the artists in our industry who are indeed professionals. You won't be disappointed.
